Word from the Director
We are proud to provide a quality learning environment with a caring staff and great parents. The staff of Milestone SABIS® Academy of New Orleans is committed to the principle that all students can learn. It is our mission to provide a positive learning environment that enhances each child's opportunity to learn and develop through an educational program, which recognizes the need for growth in academic and social skills.
Students are assisted in becoming lifelong learners through a solid education program in which they explore a variety of subjects, develop their talents and abilities, and build a positive attitude toward other people, themselves, and toward problem solving. Our curriculum provides a good educational program for the students, offering a rigorous, internationally oriented, college preparatory curriculum, emphasizing the core subjects of English, Math, Science and World Languages. The students also participate in art, music, physical education, computer and advisory classes. Students are given an opportunity to attend after school and Saturday tutoring programs. In grades 4-8 all students actively participate in Student Life activities. We provide special educational services and speech services to studants that qualify. We have a Social Worker that has classroom guidance sessions and also works with small groups and individual students. We have a school nurse in the building each day.
Milestone has a friendly atmosphere which is conducive to learning. The parents are supportive and the Parent Connection Organization is actively involved in the life of the school involving financial support and the planning of social days and fun activities to complement our program. Good parent-teacher communication permeates throughout the building.
